As you may know, we have had a greater number than normal of inclement weather days this school year, resulting in lost instructional hours and days. We are required to make up a certain number of instructional days and/or hours. After consulting with the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction and examining our calendar, we will need to add some additional school hours, particularly for the middle/high school students, which have a higher requirement of instructional hours than elementary.
We are tentatively scheduling the make-up time on the following dates:
May 17, 2013, was originally on our calendar as an early release day. We are now going to change that to a full instructional day for all students (PreK-12).
June 6, 2013, was originally our last instructional day of school (and an early release day). We will have that day as our last day for elementary students (and second-to-last day for middle/high school students), and we will make that a full day instead of an early release day (parents may still take their children home on that day after the picnic, if they wish). Buses on June 6 will be leaving school at 3:25 PM.
Friday, June 7 will now be the last day for middle/high school students only (students in grades 7-12). Elementary students will not come to school that day (Friday, June 7). Friday, June 7, will be a full day for middle/high school students (not an early release day). Buses will pick up middle/high school students in the morning and will leave school at 3:25 that day to bring them home. Once again, understand that this day (Friday, June 7) is only for middle/high school students.
Thank you for your cooperation on this issue. There are many districts across the State that are in the similar situation of having to add additional days to their school year.
